18 Mar 2026
The Ministry of Higher Education does not have any tertiary education institution in Letlhakeng constituency and does not have any plans to establish any such institutions or higher education services in the constituency in the next five years. This was said by Minister of Higher Education, Mr Prince Maele in response to a parliamentary question on Monday. However, Minister Maele said that there were plans through the National Development Plan 12 (NDP 12) and Botswana Economic Transformation Plan (BTEP) to refurbish and equip facilities of institutions of higher learning in the ministry to increase access to education and training. He indicated that some of the institutions adjacent to Letlhakeng constituency were Molepolole Institute of Health Sciences, Molepolole College of Education, Kweneng Rural Development Association Brigade in Molepolole and Kweneng Bophirima Brigade in Takatokwane. Minister Maele was responding to questions by Member of Parliament for Letlhakeng constituency, Brigadier Domcaza Mokgwathi who sought the minister to apprise Parliament on the strategic and state of higher education in his constituency in the coming five years, considering human resource placement and envisaged structure development for both lecture rooms and staff accommodation, amongst other things.
