Mmopane-Mogoditshane Taxi Routes Has No Disputes - Atamelang

17 Mar 2026

Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr Keoagile Atamelang has told Parliament that government has not received any disputes reports arising from route demarcations between Mmopane and Mogoditshane in the public transport sector.

Responding to a parliamentary question recently, Mr Atamelang explained that Mmopane was currently served by several designated public transport routes, including Mmopane-Gaborone, Mmopane Block 1, Mmopane-Ledumang via BBS and Mmopane-BBS.

He further stated that Mogoditshane was also served by several designated routes that terminated at different destinations, as well as transit routes that complemented such services.

Mr Atamelang added that both villages were adequately serviced by local taxis, which operated across the communities and provided additional transport coverage.

“The ministry has not received any reports of conflict regarding the two operating routes,” Mr Atamelang said.

He however indicated that the ministry remained open to addressing any concerns should they arise.

“However, we remain willing to be apprised of any such matters should they arise, with a view to resolving any impending conflict once formally brought to our attention,” he said.

Mmopane-Metsimotlhabe MP, Ms Helen Manyeneng, had asked the minister whether he was aware of disputes arising from unclear route demarcation between Mmopane and Mogoditshane in the public transport sector and whether a review of route boundaries was being considered. ENDS
