The Tlokweng Constituency office has launched a new magazine and website as part of efforts to advance Kgosi Puso of Batlokwa’s vision of transforming Tlokweng into a smart mode village.
“The website is scheduled to go live before the end of March, while the magazine will officially launch in June,” said one of the project coordinators, Trevor Poonyane.
He explained that the design process was collaborative, incorporating council minutes, community engagement outcomes, and documentation of development initiatives. The goal, he noted, was to ensure the platform accurately reflected ongoing progress and governance activities.
The strategic objective is to digitise and document the work of Member of Parliament, Phenyo Segokgo, while enhancing transparency and communication with constituents. Through the website, residents will be able to submit feedback, request meetings, invite the MP to community activities, and interact with constituency officers remotely.
The magazine, titled Tlokweng Times, will have online and print version. Readers can purchase or access it digitally, while hard copies will circulate within the community and at strategic locations.
Content will highlight: Community development initiatives, local economic activity and investment opportunities, social lifestyle and cultural stories, infrastructure development updates, tourism potential and Profiles of local businesses and entrepreneurs
Poonyane emphasised that the platforms aimed to present a comprehensive outlook of Tlokweng’s development trajectory, positioning the village as an emerging hub for opportunity and community growth.
He added that both platforms were expected to generate employment directly through content creation, editorial work, photography, and digital administration, and indirectly by stimulating local business opportunities. Approximately P25,000 was allocated to support the website’s development and initial magazine work.
“Ultimately, these platforms strengthen transparency, participation, and visibility of constituency development efforts,” said Poonyane. BOPA
