ConCourt to ensure justice for all - Moswaane

16 Feb 2026

The establishment of Constitutional Court will ensure equal  justice for all , Assistant Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Mr Ignatius Moswaane has said.

Speaking during a consultative meeting in Seronga recently, Mr Moswaane said ConCourt’s existence before a comprehensive Constitutional review would provide Batswana a platform for redress where the Constitutional review recommendations were unfavourable.

However,  Seronga residents expressed mixed reactions regarding the establishment of the court. Some suggested that the most critical issues that required immediate interventions in Seronga and the Eastern part of the Okavango District as a whole, were construction of the Mohembo-Gudigwa road and addressing education and health challenges.

A resident, Mr Ene Maeze said the Mohembo-Gudigwa road current state put people’s lives at risk and disadvantaged the area.

He said, therefore, the constitutional court establishment should be deferred for now.

Another resident, Mr Ntshepang Johane said the government should do a holistic review of the Constitution first, that would include all the tribal groups, before establishing the court. Kgosi Divere Ndando of Gudigwa supported the idea with the hope that it would help in expediting developments in the Eastern part of the Okavango.

Another resident, Mr Ndorobaki Tsietso, also welcomed the establishment of the court since it was premised on protecting human rights, regardless of social status or tribe. ENDS
