Botswana U20 To Avenge Against Cameroon

12 Feb 2026

Botswana national Under 20 team will today host Cameroon in the return leg of the FIFA U20 Women’s World cup qualifiers at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.

Cameroon walloped The young Mares 5-0 in a game played at Olembe stadium, Cameroon on February 7.

Hopefully, The young Mares will have better luck this around since they will be playing on home soil.

Coach, Tapathiwa Gaebolae, told BOPA that they went into the second leg well prepared because they have had time to correct their mistakes.

“We have analysed the game with the girls. We have 18 players who have the zeal to work for this country,” she said, adding that they had a one on one with them to iron out certain issues.

Ready as they may be, Gaebolae said the team was aware of the dent that resulted from the loss they suffered at the hands of Cameroon, but would be playing to win the match.

“Mind you this is football, it’s possible for us to do that looking at how Cameroon played. Though they are more physical than us, my girls can match them, “she said, adding that the girls performed to their best.

Coach Gaebolae said all the players were without injuries and ready to give it their all. The game is scheduled for 3pm. BOPA
