Public servants can work anywhere
19 Feb 2014
All employees in the public service are expected to serve anywhere in the country except under exceptional cases such as medical reasons.
Answering a question in Parliament from the MP for Gaborone Central, Mr Dumelang Saleshando on February 18, the Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri explained that the same applied to married public officers.
He said to avoid separating spouses, where feasible and without compromising the provision of services, appointing authorities were encouraged to be considerate in transferring married employees.
MP Saleshando had asked the minister to state the current policy or practice regarding work stations assigned to public officers in relation to their spouse’s work place and whether the transfer policy should not take the location of one’s spouse into consideration. ENDS
