In a bid to prepare for the fourth annual cultural family event reunion, Ghetto Urban Designs will host a 10 km sponsored walk and orientation on March 15 in Serowe.

The sponsored walk will start from Serowe Old Mall to Central Transport Organization (CTO), and thereafter, there will be an orientation at Kennedy Farm in Serowe.

In an interview, the managing director of Ghetto Urban Designs, Mr Vincent Sebati, said the objective of the event was to make people appreciate the importance of family.

He said it was also intended to teach people different roles within the family, the roles of children, father and mother, and they also wanted to bridge the gender inequality gap.

Therefore, he encouraged the people of Serowe and surrounding areas to attend the sponsored walk and orientation so that they would know what to expect from the upcoming cultural family reunion event.

The cultural family reunion event will be held on May 30-31 at Kennedy Farm in Serowe. Mr Sebati said their goal is to inform the community of Serowe about issues that affect the society such as alcohol and substance abuse, women trafficking, youth and unemployment.

He said the event will be conducted under the theme “My Family towards Nation Building”.He said some of the issues to be discussed at the event are children’s rights, service delivery, food security, population and development and price fixing.

He noted that the family reunion is in its fourth year and has been held across the country in Kanye, Gabane and Gaborone. Ghetto Urban Designs is an events management initiative which focuses on issues affecting gender inequality, cultural festivals and workshops.

The main sponsors of the sponsored walk are Ghetto Urban Designs, Department of Arts and Culture, Department of Gender Affairs, Botswana Competition Authority, Radio Botswana 2, Central District Council, Ministry of Finance, Tribal Administration, White Palace amongst others. Ends
