Masisi to update media on poverty eradication

The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi will hold a media briefing on the Poverty Eradication Programme at Mass Media Complex, Gaborone on February 25 at 1130am.
Minister Masisi, who chairs the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Poverty Eradication Programme (PEP) is expected to brief the media on the progress thus far and plans for this year, including the upcoming Poverty Eradication Workshop in Jamataka.
The briefing follows the previous one addressed by the Cabinet Sub Committee on Poverty Eradication at Mass Media Complex on December 10, 2013.
These regular meetings are part of the broader mandate of the PEP communications, partnerships and policy advocacy office to advance and sustain a working relationship with the Poverty Eradication Media Corps through regular interaction and provision of information and updates about the flagship programme.
The Poverty Eradication Coordinating Unit (PECU), headed by permanent secretary, Dr John Mothibi is tasked with the coordination and effective implementation of the poverty eradication initiatives, policies and programmes.
Hitherto, PECU has organised workshops for beneficiaries and extension officers in Mahalapye, Diphuduhudu, Sehunou/ Motshegaletau, Chanoga, Dikhukhung, Struizendum and Damchujeena.
Extension officers who are responsible for the implementation of the programme have also been offered training at a boot-camp held in Palapye in September 2013.
Minister Masisi will be accompanied by members of the Cabinet Sub Committee on Poverty Eradication and some senior government officials. ENDS
