Team Event To See Countries Go Head to Head

The Southern African Junior Tennis Championships team event starts on Tuesday an is expected to run for five days.
A total of 11 Southern Africa countries being Botswana are eSwatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar, Angola, and Mauritius, will participate in the event.
Botswana Tennis Association (BTA), vice president, Nonofo Othusitse, said the team event would see countries go head to head in the singles and doubles.
They will have an opportunity to field four teams of boys and girls Under 14 and 16, Othusitse said, adding that the event offered a golden opportunity to qualify for the African Junior Team Championships (AJTC) in both age categories.
Othusitse said the team underwent training camps from December 15 to 19, and January 5 to 8, allowing them adequate preparation for the task ahead.
The under 14 team’s girls team is made up of Malak Macheng, Angel Chakanyuka and Camilla Seetso, while the Under 14 boys team has Tinashe Phatshwane, Francesco Brink, and Lebone Tlape.
In the under 16 girl’s category, they country has pinned its hope on Rerotlhe Kgannyeng, Ateng Rankunyane, Rethabile Gontlafetse
While the under 16 boys team is made up of Kgotso Kejakang, Ivan Pribil, Wincott Samaka, and the coaching tem is made up of Wellington Sibanda who will be taking care of under 14 girls
Kagiso Kelebeile is tasked with under 14 boys, Kelebogile Monnayoo is responsible for under16 girls while Lefa Sibanda will coach the under 16 boys. BOPA
