Thirty-year-old rapper, Mr King, born Mompoloki Mogorosi, has released his second studio album, Gata Lenna.
The nine-track project dropped on December 9, marked another milestone for the Lefoko native.
In an interview, Mr King said the album was largely produced by 2023 BOMU Kwaito award winner, Tinerman Kwaito at Home Vibes Studio.
One track, Gorileng, received a different creative touch, having been produced by DJ Bino.
Reflecting on his journey, Mr King noted that financial constraints remained one of his biggest challenges, particularly when recording and shooting music videos.
He added that growing up in Lefoko often limited access to resources.
“But I always manage to push through because of the love and passion I have for music,” he said.
He explained that writing lyrics in Setswana sets him apart from many rappers who prefered English.
“I am strong in my language, and that makes me unique,” he said.
Some tracks on the album feature guitar work by Pablo, adding a distinctive Jazz–Hip-Hop fusion as Mr King continues to refine his sound.
Looking back on his achievements, Mr King said he has performed at several corporate events, including the Jwaneng Music Charity Festival, which raised funds for individuals who lost their vehicles in a fire during the Jwaneng Toyota Desert Race.
“I shared the stage with Johnny Mokhali, Ezra Neethings, Vee Mampeezy, Ubuntu Band, and many others,” he said.
Mr King is calling on promoters for bookings and encouraged Batswana to support his craft by purchasing the album. As a way of increasing his footprint in the music circle, Gata Lenna is available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. ENDS
