Masisi clarifies Presidential trips

The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has said that President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has not attended any of the United Nations General Assembly and African Union Heads of State Summits personally save for Conservation International Board meetings since ascending to the presidency.
Mr Masisi said, however, that the country was represented at all these fora by either the Vice President or the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on behalf of the President.
The minister said regarding the Conservation International (CI) board meetings, The President had attended six CI board meetings accompanied by a delegation of five officers namely senior private secretary, chief of protocol, medical officer/ Presidential nurse and two security officers.
MP for Gaborone Central, Mr Dumelang Saleshando had asked the minister to state the number of times the President had attended UN general assembly, AU heads of State Summits and Conservation International Boards meetings since assuming office in 2008 and the sizes of the delegations that accompanied him.
