Population influence number of schools

There are six junior secondary schools in Kanye, eight in Molepolole, four in Ramotswa, six in Mochudi, five in Mahalapye, three in Palapye, three in Tonota and four in Maun.

This was said by the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Patrick Masimolole when answering a question in Parliament on February 17. Mr Masimolole said that there was one senior secondary school in each of these villages.

The factors that were considered in determining the number of junior and senior Secondary schools to be provided in these areas, he said, were population of children in the feeder primary schools and junior secondary schools in the catchment areas, availability of basic utility services particularly water in the area and size of the population.

MP for Maun East, Mr Frank Ramsden had wanted the minister to state the number of junior and senior secondary schools in Kanye, Molepolole, Ramotswa, Mochudi, Mahalapye, Palapye, Tonota and Maun, respectively.The minister was also to state what determined the number of schools provided in each of the places.
