Minister of Water and Human Settlements has expressed gratitude on the progress of houses built through the Bonno National Housing Progamme in Tatisiding.
Already, the 30 houses are at window level.

Mr Onnetse Ramogapi said the progress had shown that the work was being done and progressing well.

“Like the President has alluded, step by step we are moving forward, Rome was not built in one day and we are happy for every milestone,” said Mr Ramogapi

Through the Bonno National Housing Programme, government aims to provide 100 000 houses in three years to Batswana.

Mr Ramogapi said the programme aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal number 11 and the nation’s Vision 2036, which focused on ensuring all had access to safe, affordable and adequate housing.

Giving an update, Botswana Housing Corporation regional director - north, Ms Goitseone Sebego said they were constructing 30 units of houses in two different types.

She said the project commenced in August, adding that the construction was planned to be completed in August 28, 2026.

However, as the project seems to be behind time, Ms Sebego said they negotiated with the contractor to increase the number of employees so that they could push the project to finish within the expected time.

She encouraged Batswana to come forth and embrace the Bonno National Housing Programme as it was designed to give them dignified accommodation.

North East District Commissioner, Ms Wame Samapipi said the Bonno National Housing Programme would be beneficial to Tatisiding, which was close to the second city thus by providing accommodation to the residents.

She also encouraged Batswana to embrace the programme, so as to benefit from it as its main objective was to ensure provision of accommodation, which had been la challenge in the area.

For his part, Tatisiding Kgosi, Simon Nkgageng appreciated government for the programme, which he said would be beneficial to the residents. ENDS
