TAFIC host struggling Gunners

06 Nov 2025

The FNB Premiership is set for a thrilling weekend of action, with high-stakes matches across the country.

Tomorrow, TAFIC FC will face Extension Gunners at the Francistown City Council at 4pm in a relegation dogfight and a desperate battle to climb out of the bottom ranks.

Francistown-based TAFIC FC, alias Matjimenyenga, surprisingly struggling after a second-place finish last season, desperately need to find its form. Languishing on just nine points, the home side will see the clash as a crucial opportunity for redemption.

They welcome Extension Gunners (Guna-Guna), who are just two points and three places below them on the log. With both teams enduring a tough start to the 2025/26 campaign, the matchup is less about glory and more about survival.

This is a game one would not want to miss. A true six-pointer and despite both sides’ current form, TAFIC’s slight historical edge and home-ground advantage make them slight favourites.

However, football’s unpredictable nature means Guna-Guna could easily spoil the day. Football fans should expect a tense as well as a hard-fought match where a single goal could be the difference.

On one hand, in a title showdown, the high-flying defending champions, Gaborone United (GU), travel to the diamond town to face Orapa United at Itekeng Stadium at 6pm. The league leaders face a tricky road test.

However, GU are in phenomenal form, topping the log with a near-perfect record, scoring freely and boasting an impressive goal difference.

They are the clear favourites, but Orapa United, despite their mid-table position, have a history of being a formidable opponent at Itekeng Stadium.

The fixture promises to be an electrifying encounter and one may wonder if Orapa United can, on a good day, be the team to finally ruin GU’s perfect campaign. This match is set to deliver thrilling moments for football fanatics.

Other Saturday fixtures will see Morupule Wanderers versus Calendar Stars at Palapye Stadium at 4pm. Sua Flamingoes will face BDF XI at Sowa Town Council Stadium at 4pm.

Matebele FC will take the field against Nico United at GU stadium in Gaborone at 4pm while Jwaneng Galaxy will face Police XI at Galaxy Stadium in Jwaneng at 6pm. Township Rollers will face Santa Green at GU stadium in Gaborone at 7pm. ENDS
