Warri Kingdom couple visits to deepen ties

04 Nov 2025

President Advocate Duma Boko has expressed appreciation to Nigeria’s royal couple of the Warri Kingdom for visiting Botswana.

His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III and Her Majesty Olori Atuwatse III of the Warri Kingdom, Nigeria on Friday paid a courtesy call to President Boko.

The couple are the co-founders of the just-concluded two-day Elevate Africa Convening 2025, which was held in Tlokweng recently under the theme: Africa: The Next Chapter.

The visit, President Boko said, would help deepen the ties between, and amongst, all African people, as well as raise the profile of the African continent by ‘bringing us all together, strengthening our ties and our collaborations, deepening trade and indeed elevating the continent’.

“We are humbled and extremely overjoyed to have you here with us. We take it as a great gesture of appreciation of friendship and of extending brotherhood and the boundaries of collaboration. We also send, through you, our greetings and appreciation to the people of the Warri Kingdom,” he said.

For his part, His Majesty Atuwatse said the visit to Botswana had been a beautiful experience.

“It is an honour to meet you in person. I believe the entire African continent was watching with anticipation and excitement, as you emerged victorious in the elections. Personally, I was glad as a young man to see a young face assume a position of authority on this continent, and we have been monitoring your progress so far,” he said.

This, he said, was also part of why they chose to visit Botswana and host the second convening for Elevator Africa in Botswana, adding that the maiden edition of Elevate Africa was held in Nigeria.

“We set out to go for the Southern part of the continent and then hopefully work our way back up Eastern, Northern, and go around like that. We're very glad to see that your government opened its doors to us,” he added.

His Majesty Atuwatse said they were also committed to elevating the narrative and perception of the African continent, as a way to reshape the narrative about Africa, including how it moves and trades. ENDS
