Bahurutshe celebrate Kgosi Kagiso coronation

Scores of Bahurutshe boo-Moshibidu and well-wishers filled the Tloaneng main kgotla Saturday morning to celebrate the coronation of Kgosi Joseph Kagiso.
Kgosi Kagiso, an army man who traded his military regalia to take up royal duties, was handed over official kgotla duties and royal items following the retirement of his father Kgosi Kagiso Khuduga.
Multitudes braved the soaring heat to witness the coronation of Kgosi Kagiso which was seen as a mark of a new era of leadership and cultural revival of the Bahurutshe people of Tloaneng following lengthy chieftainship disputes.
Giving her coronation remarks Balete Paramount Chief, Kgosi Mosadi Seboko said she was proud to be part of the history defining moment. She explained the role of the Kgosi and the kgotla system and the correlation between the two.
Kgosi Mosadi said the Bogosi institution had stood the test of time and it was very important to understand its role in nation building. She said humility was an important component in tribal administration an urged the newly installed Kgosi Kagiso to treat his subjects with utmost humility and fairness.
Giving a word of encouragement Botswana Defence Force (BDF) representative, Major General Hendrick Rakgantshwane said during Kgosi Kagiso tenure as a rifleman, he was an obedient person who carried out his duties with minimum supervision.
He said he was a fair but firm individual with great team effort. Kgosi Kagiso resigned from the army at the rank of staff sergeant.
Kgosi Kgari Sechele III of Bakwena urged Bahurutshe to support their leader and cooperate with him to fairly discharge his duties. He said the tribe had gone through a period of unrest but all was set and done and it was Kgosi’s duty to serve the tribe unselfishly.
Kgosi Kagiso accepted the responsibility of leading his morafe and said despite all the challenges it was a great blessing. He promised to unite his morafe and said that could only be possible through their guidance and well wishes. ENDS
