27 Oct 2025

Jwaneng Galaxy has bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup competition after playing to a one all draw with Zambia’s ZESCO United at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown on Saturday.

The score line which ended in 5-4 on aggregate sent ZESCO thorugh to the group stages. Previously, ZESCO won by 4-3 against Galaxy in an encounter which was played at Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola last weekend.

In a post press conference, Galaxy head coach, Sean Connor said he was disappointed at being eliminated from the competition. He said although his team performed well, they struggled to create enough chances, which prevented them from scoring more goals.

He added that the goal they conceded came from a mistake that could  have been avoided. ZESCO head coach expressed happiness for having qualified for the group stages of CAF Confederation Cup which has been their target.

He praised his players for delivering results and also thanked their sponsor and supporters for making it possible for the team to qualify for the group stages. Both teams put on a good fight on the pitch though tactically ZESCO was more defensive which denied Galaxy scoring chances.

ZESCO was the first to score in the dying minutes of the first half after having a set piece which was headed in the net, while Jwaneng Galaxy found an equaliser in the 82nd minute through Thabang Sesinyi. The game ended on 1-1. ENDS
