Do or Die For Galaxy
23 Oct 2025
Jwaneng Galaxy will this Saturday be looking forward to win their second leg game of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary stage when they take on Zambian club, Zesco United, in an encounter to be played at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.
Despite the loss Galaxy suffered against Zesco United at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia last weekend, the team is optimistic of a good outcome from the upcoming game.
Having scored three away goals when they went down 3-4 to Zesco, a 1-0 win on home ground would see them advance through, courtesy of the away goal rule.
However, the thrilling and crucial clash promises to be a spectacular encounter, and will not be easy for either team as both are expected to fight tooth and nail to secure a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage competition.
Galaxy’s coach Sean Connor said in an interview on Thursday that though his team is ready to face Zesco United and get a win, they need to be more focused.
Regarding last weekend’s defeat, coach Connor was optimistic that they would not concede and would score at least one goal to weave their way through as they are on an advantage, having scored three away goals.
Though they would not rely solely on that, Connor said he would start up with a different line-up from the one he deployed in Zambia, which he said had served the specific plan that he went into the game with.
He said it is evident that their opponent is much stronger offensively and that they therefore needed to be on their toes in terms of approaching the game, and that defensively, they would do their absolute best.
Coach Connor also indicated that the game is extremely crucial in terms of where they want to be as a football club, hence their desire to win it.
He added that they wanted to compete in the CAF group stages, which would also be important to Botswana’s football as it would give players exposure prior to AFCON.
This last leg of the second CAF confederation cup, is expected to mesmerise football fans and showcase the beauty of African football.
The encounter is scheduled to kick start at 3pm. ENDS
