Botswana Bowling Association president, Kitso Robert has applauded SRR Civil and Structural Engineers for its contribution toward developing bowling in the last three years. 

In addition to the sponsorship toward the annual SRR Bowling Tournament, he noted that the company had also sponsored accommodation for two bowlers who were scheduled to participate at the Champion of Champions in Australia.

“They do not only sponsor this tournament, they sponsor bowling in many ways. They sponsored accommodation for our two bowlers who were supposed to go to Australia for the Champion of Champions but unfortunately we did not raise enough money to send them to Australia, but they did their part in sponsoring us,” he said at the end of the third edition of the SRR Bowling Open Tournament held in Jwaneng over the weekend.

The tournament sponsored by SRR to the tune of P100,000 attracted 20 teams from Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Robert said this was the biggest partnership bowling had ever had and applauded SRR for its contribution.

SRR managing director, Kganetso Saubi said they were committed to developing the sport, and recommitted to long-term partnership with Botswana Bowling Association. 

“Even though we had anticipated our journey to end, I am pleased to let you know that we shall continue to be partners in the long run,” he said.

Team Now or Never was named the champion of this year’s tournament and walked away with P12,000 after garnering 47 points and 67 shots. Spotted Dogs and Shining Stars got P8,000 and P6,000 respectively with 41 points, 32 shots and 39 points, 14 shots, while No Fear was awarded P4,000 for obtaining fourth position with 37 points, 10 shots.

Jwaneng Bowling Club chairperson, Regent Reid commended bowlers for their commitment, particularly those who came from South Africa and Zimbabwe for their commitment to the sport. Such tournaments, he said, were intended to hone their skills and unite them in the spirit of sportsmanship. ENDS
