Thomas unveils BWP project

01 Oct 2025

Miss Botswana, Ruth Thomas, has officially unveiled her Beauty With a Purpose project, titled: The Beauty Movement.

As she prepares to represent Botswana at the 73rd Miss World, the reigning queen’s initiative aims to teach children the importance of self-acceptance and to support women in prison, survivors of rape, women with skin conditions and those permanently scarred by accidents in rediscovering their worth and inner power.

“Beauty is in all of us and we are more than what we look like,” said Thomas, emphasising that her goal is to help those who feel vulnerable appreciate life and recognise that they are special. Each of us has our own unique fingerprints.

"Imagine how many billions of people exist in the world, yet there is only one you. That’s the power of individuality,” she added.

The Beauty Movement will be launched in Hatsalatladi, a location symbolic of Thomas’s vision, as the area has for decades experienced severe ground fissuring, leaving the land deeply scarred, mirroring the resilience and healing.

The initiative will see Thomas collaborate with Project 124 Africa, a project-based learning and opportunities platform for entrepreneurs, over the next three months, as well as Ratong Centre, a Non-Governmental Organisation that provides a safe space for women who have experienced trauma and equips them with sustainable skills.

Executive Director of Project 124 Africa, Goitsemang Khutsafalo, expressed confidence in investing resources into the initiative, noting that it aligned with the company’s mandate of empowering women.

He further highlighted that the project had the potential to play a critical role in the fight against gender-based violence by restoring the lost self-confidence of many women. ENDS
