Miss Botswana unveils The Beauty Movement
26 Sep 2025
As part of her preparations for the 73rd Miss World competition, Miss Botswana, Ruth Thomas has unveiled her Beauty With a Purpose project, titled The Beauty Movement.
Through her project, Thomas aims to teach children the importance of self-acceptance and to support women in prison, survivors of rape, women with skin conditions, and those permanently scarred by accidents in rediscovering their worth and inner power.
Thomas will collaborate with Project 124 Africa, a learning and opportunities platform for entrepreneurs, over the next three months, as well as Ratong Centre, a Non-Governmental Organisation that provides a safe space for women who have experienced trauma and equips them with sustainable skills.
The Beauty Movement will be launched at Hatsalatladi, a location symbolic of Thomas’s vision, as the area has for decades experienced severe ground fissuring, leaving the land deeply scarred, mirroring the resilience and healing her project seeks to inspire.
Executive Director of Project 124 Africa, Goitsemang Khutsafalo, expressed confidence in investing resources into the initiative, noting that it aligned with the company’s mandate of women empowerment.
He further highlighted that the project had the potential to play a critical role in the fight against gender-based violence by restoring the lost self-confidence of many women. ENDS
