Ministry to maintain pots

16 Feb 2014

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has said it was true that most pots installed in eight Ngami constituency primary schools are not functional.

She said the pots were not functioning not because of poor workmanship at the time of installation, but due to lack of service contract for maintenance over the years. Ms Tshireletso said her ministry through North West District Council had a budgetary provision of P105 000 to cater for the maintenance of pots during the 2014/2015 financial year.

The assistant minister told the house that the council had also identified an officer who would be trained by end of February 2014 to do in house maintenance of pots in the schools.

Ms Tshireletso was responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Ngami, Mr Taolo Habano who had asked the minister if she was aware that most cooking pots in primary schools in Ngami Constituency were not functioning due to poor workmanship at the time of installation and also to state when she intends addressing the situation.
