Atamelang commends public officers

Public servants in Tsabong District have been commended for dedication and commitment to addressing the region’s challenges.

The Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr Keoagile Atamelang was engaged in a three-day consultation with public servants, in preparation for the drafting the National Development Plan 12 (NDP 12).

Addressing a district staff meeting Tsabong on August 15, Mr Atamelang acknowledged the hurdles they faced, including a shortage of resources, obsolete equipment, insufficient staff accommodation, all of which impacted productivity.

Despite the obstacles, Mr Atamelang commended their efforts, urging them to maintain dedication, emphasising that hard work was crucial for the country’s development.

Mr Atamelang also called for greater agility and a sense of ownership among the employees, stressing the importance of making timely and informed decisions, particularly concerning construction tenders that often experience prolonged delays.

The assistant minister’s itinerary was focused on key infrastructure projects and staff engagement. He visited the Omaweneno Road Resealing site and the Werda Station, followed by a meeting with staff at Tsabong.

The tour also included a visit to the McCarthy’s Rust Border to inspect the resealing of the road and to express appreciation to the staff stationed a the borderpost.

Mr Atamelang’s visit underscored government commitment to collaborative governance and to incorporating grassroots ideas into national development strategies.

He encouraged staff to contribute suggestions, saying that their input was invaluable for the country’s progress. ENDS
