Ministry intends to provide decent and safe transport

17 Aug 2025

The Assistant Minister of Child Welfare and Basic Education Mr Justin Hunyepa says that the ministry’s long-term goal is to provide decent transport for all learners so they can arrive at school safely and in good condition.

Answering a question in Parliament on August 13, Mr Hunyepa acknowledged that the problem was not only in parts of the Kweneng Region, but also in other areas of the country.

The minister stated that there were 41 learners from Ramankhung who had difficulty travelling to and from school due to long distances and lack of reliable transportation.

In an effort to help, Mr Hunyepa said the council had provided three donkey carts to transport pupils to school and back home.

He was responding to a question from MP for Lentsweletau/Lephephe, Mr Tshenolo Bogatsu who had asked the minister to state the plans to assist learners from Dikgatlhong who travelled about 10 kilometres to access education in Ramankhung. ENDS
