Tatisiding hosts annual crime prevention expo
14 Aug 2025
Tatisiding business community will today host the second edition of its annual crime prevention expo in Tatisiding.
The event aims to sensitise residents on the negative impact of crime and promote community policing.
Themed: Working Together to Create a Safer Community Against Crime, the expo will kick off with a walk around the village, followed by a showcase of products and services from sponsors.
The main event will take place on August 16 nd will be opened by Member of Parliament for Tati East, Mr Tlhabologo Furniture.
Gerald Estate Police Station, station commander, Superintendent Emily Kula, said the event targeted 2 500 residents at Tatisiding and has attracted more sponsors than last year’s event.
She explained that the objectives of the expo included sensitising the community on the effects of crime, forming neighborhood watch groups, and fostering partnerships between the community and business society.
Superintendent Kula explained that the event was the brainchild of the Tatisiding business community, driven by the need to combat crime in their village.
She noted that the village’s proximity to Francistown had led to an increase in crime, affecting businesses and instilling fear in residents.
Superintendent Kula appealed to other villages to emulate the initiative, which was beginning to bear fruit.
Kgosi Simon Nkgageng of Tatisiding praised the initiative, highlighting the village’s recent experiences with crime.
He said Tatisiding was a fast growing village and had become a criminal hub and heaven for criminals in recent years due to its proximity to Francistown, which also was a criminal hub hence urged residents to attend the event in large numbers, emphasising that fighting crime required community input.
Tatisiding has experienced traumatic incidents in the past, including a 2024 murder case where a 40 year-old man killed his three children.
The incident shocked the community and highlighted a need for collective action against crime.
The expo is an opportunity for the community to come together and work towards creating a safer environment. ENDS
