Duo agree on reclassification of French course

The Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education and Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) have recently affirmed agreement regarding the re-classification of French from a coursework-based subject to a practical examination.
Answering a question in Parliament recently, Minister of Child Welfare and Basic Education, Ms Nono Kgafela-Mokoka affirmed that due to the reclassification, BEC would now be responsible for payments pertaining to French practical examinations, as the ministry was only responsible for course work payments of all syllabuses.

She revealed that since the recent move, BEC had started paying out both 2023 and 2024 French examiners for the French Practical Examination.
The minister was answering a question from Mogoditshane West legislator, Mr Galenawabo Lekau who had asked the minister who between BEC and her ministry paid for the French course work.
He also wanted to know when the teachers would be paid for the 2023 French examinations. ENDS
