Ocean Birds football ground in Mokobeng, Tswapong South, will on Saturday host a charity football tournament.

Organised by Marena Social Club, the football extravaganza coined “Mocco PRI Charity Tournament,” will be used to raise funds for Mokobeng Primary School. The event organiser and member of Marena Social Club, Lebogang Ramalebang said the tournament has attracted six social clubs being the host, Marena, Dikopane (Letlhakane), Gemstone (Orapa), Siwelele (Gaborone), Golden Stars (Palapye) and Kubzela (Ramokgonami).

Ramalebang said the fund raising event would only turn into a success through the support of revellers, therefore appealing to residents of Mokobeng and neighbouring villages to answer their plea. She said the tournament was a heed to government’s call, where everyone had been asked to come on board and contribute to nation building and economic transformation by any means possible.

“Government cannot continue doing everything and given state of our economy, we saw it fit to lend a helping hand,” she said.

Ramalebang added that funds through the tournament would purchase stationery for the students and extend to other needs for the school. Ramalebang encouraged other stakeholders to stand up and assist the government in adopting schools around the country.

“We have to stand up and do something,” she said. ENDS
