Tloaneng plots allocation set for October
06 Aug 2025
The acting Minister of Lands and Agriculture Dr Edwin Dikoloti says his ministry through Kweneng Land Board intends to allocate residential plots in Tloaneng by the end of October this year.
Answering a question in Parliament on Thursday, he said this followed the approval of the infill Detailed Layout Design for Tloaneng by Mogoditshane/Thamaga District Council.
He stated that the layout had 50 residential plots and was submitted to the land board on the June 9. “The residential plot allocation follows the sequence of plot applications and there will be no preference for the youth,” he said.
Dr Dikoloti added that preference schemes were applicable in non-residential plots as a way of empowering the youth. He also said the ministry had plans to utilise the available land for infill development in Mmankgodi and Tloaneng.
Dr Dikoloti highlighted that at times, certain limitations and constraints regarding allocations emerged as a consequence of existing underground services and once identified, such problems were addressed, subject to availability of funds. Additionally, he said there were some undeveloped plots, which might not have been claimed and saying they posed a latent potential for land disputes.
He was answering a question from the MP for Gabane/Mmankgodi, Mr Kagiso Mmusi who had asked the minister to state when he intended to allocate residential plots in Tloaneng, particularly to the youth, who have long awaited plot allocation as previously promised.
Mr Mmusi also asked if there were plans to utilise available land for infill developments given that both Mmankgodi and Tloaneng communities had a growing number of youth without access to residential plots. ENDS
