A wave of fresh musical talent is set to take centre stage on August 9, as 20-year-old aspiring event organiser Losika Mmereki hosts the highly anticipated Winter Shutdown at Wena Tented Camp in Kanye.

Promising a night of non-stop entertainment, the event will feature a vibrant line-up of local DJs, music producers, and MCs, most of whom hail from Kanye.  Among the headliners are popular events organiser and KFX resident DJ Bistar, along with Lekompo producer based in Gaborone, DJ Priscah, Other DJs include DJ Phonic, Deep Soul, DJ Oxczy, Diss Kay, DJ Tonzi, DJ Prince, Exclusive DJs, Ray Mo, Young Crilly, Atkins Music, The Dynamics, Stepper Boys, DJ Carlos, and many more.

Taking the microphone to keep the energy high throughout the night will be charismatic MCs Mummy Phatsi, The Controlla, and MC Macconell. In an exclusive interview, Mmereki shared details of what promises to be one of Kanye’s biggest musical events of the season. 

“The show kicks off at 1 pm and will go on until 6 am the following morning. Transport to and from the venue is available at P10 per person and entry at P50," he said.

He also highlighted the cooler box policy, stating that patrons can bring their own cooler boxes for a fee of P20 before 7pm, rising to P50 thereafter. As part of his vision to support young creatives and the local economy, Mmereki is inviting small business owners to rent food stalls at the event, giving them a platform to earn an income and promote their services.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, the organiser promised a specially decorated VIP section for artists, tightened security, and top-tier sound quality. Winter Shutdown is more than just a party, it’s a celebration of youthful creativity, community spirit, and the power of music to bring people together.
