28 Jul 2025
Plans are underway to source labour from stakeholders, the community and vocational institutions to restore Shashe River Senior Secondary School functionality during the coming school holidays in August 2025.
Answering a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Dr Kgafela-Mokoka said with regards to the general condition of the school, the infrastructure, which included classrooms, electricity at boy’s hostels, warm water and other amenities, the ministry was in a drive to procure building materials for the refurbishment of selected schools including Shashe.
She further said the plan was that the ministry would commission the planned Insourcing Programme of Schools Maintenance during the school holidays from August to September 8 2025.
The minister said the project was anticipated to resolve most plumbing, electrical and restoration of hot water in the school.
She was answering a question from Tonota MP, Mr Gaefele Sedombo who had asked the minister if she was aware of the condition of Shashe River School, where there was no power in the hostels, classrooms, warm water and the general condition of infrastructure in the school.
Mr Sedombo also wanted to know if so, what plans were in place to normalise the situation. ENDS
