President Advocate Duma Boko concluded his three day working visit to Lesotho by attending 62nd birthday of King Letsie III on July 17.
Delivering a message of well wishes to the king, President Boko said King Letsie has had an immense contribution in the livelihoods of Basotho.
He extolled the king for his contribution in the SADC region and the African continent.
President Boko affirmed a strong friendship and affinity between Botswana and Lesotho that has bonded the two nations.
"I am here today to warmly share this day with the King and to thank him for having invited Botswana to be here today and to record in the annals of history our gratitude towards him and our love and appreciation to the people of Lesotho' he said.
Basotho use this revered annual gathering to not only mark the King’s birthday but also celebrate the Sesotho culture.
The day filled with vibrant tapestry of tradition and jubilation as citizens, chiefs and dignitaries united across the country to honour their beloved monarch in a celebration that was punctuated with prayers for the King and royal family.
Like any royal event a stunning spectacle of trooping the colour was displayed in an orderly military precision readying for the kings arrival.
Upon arrival at fully packed Teyateyaneng grounds, he showed up clad in a royal regalia walking alongside his wife Her Majesty the Queen, Mmasenate Mohato Seeiso.
King Letsie was installed King in 1990 and fully took over the role in 1996 after his father’s death. ENDS
