Mosinyi calls for unity

Women’s football leaders have been called upon to unite and propel the sport’s growth.

Speaking during the annual general meeting of the National Women’s Football Committee held recently in Ghanzi, the chairperson, Keeng Mosinyi emphasised the importance of solidarity among women football stakeholders, urging them to learn from past experiences and face the future collaboratively.

“Let’s work together to shape the future of women’s football, creating a brighter, more inclusive, and exciting sport for all,” she stated.

Mosinyi highlighted the positive impact of women’s football in promoting gender equality, empowering women and girls, and challenging existing stereotypes.

She noted that the sport serves as a platform to bridge the gap between women and men’s sports, advocating for equal opportunities, recognition, and treatment.

Participation in women’s football, she explained, fosters confidence, self-esteem and independence among women and girls, enabling them to take control of their lives and pursue their ambitions.

Kgosi Annah Ranko of Ghanzi also voiced her concerns, pointing out that women have often been left behind under various cultural standards and societal expectations. She urged women to become change agents, resilience in the face of global challenges, and proactive contributors to the economy through initiatives like football.

“Be resilient in the noise and hustle of the global world,” she said.

She encouraged more women to join football, emphasizing its potential to contribute positively to economic development.

Vice Chairperson Sello Modise called on women leaders to refocus their efforts on promoting and elevating women’s football. He stressed that the National Women’s Football Committee should not merely be spectators but active drivers in the development, planning, and representation of women’s football. ENDS
