Young queens impress on global pageantry stage

Junior Idol competitors have made the nation proud after an impressive performance at the just ended Junior Idol World competition in Bangkok, Thailand.
The five talented girls who arrived in the country on July 11, brought home accolades proving that with determination and support, local talent can shine on any world stage.
Marang Isago Sapelo was crowned Little Miss Junior Idol World first runner-up and winner of the Best Catwalk Award, Tanisha Leepile was crowned Miss Pre-Teen Junior Idol World second runner-up and recipient of the Best Sportswear Award.
Isago Ralethaka claimed the Mini Miss Junior Idol World third runner-up title and impressed with her Best Interview Award, Katlego Matheakgomo won the Photogenic Award and was named Miss Pre-Teen Junior World Rising Star, while Kalen Siti was awarded the Rising Star Award in the Little Miss Junior Idol World category.
Speaking in an interview after their arrival, Junior Idol World Botswana National Director Lebogang Matheakgomo expressed pride in the girls’ achievements.
Matheakgomo said the competition brought together young performers from across the globe with 30 countries showcasing talents in modeling, pageantry, and performing arts.
Botswana’s team stood out, winning hearts with their poise, discipline, and cultural representation.
“The girls did extremely well at the just ended Junior Idol World, they gave it their all and left a mark that will be remembered, we are proud of how they carried themselves and represented Botswana with pride,” said Matheakgomo.
She said the young queens not only captivated the judges with their runway skills and creative costumes but also embraced the spirit of cultural exchange, proudly displaying elements of Botswana’s rich heritage throughout the event.
She congratulated the girls, describing them as ‘true ambassadors’ of the country, and hailed the team’s success as a sign of greater things to come for Botswana’s growing presence in global youth competitions.
Matheakgomo emphasised the importance of continued support, sponsorship, and training to keep Botswana’s youth thriving on the global stage.
“This is just the beginning, with adequte resources and encouragement, our girls can go even further,” the Junior Idol World Botswana National Director added. ENDS
