07 Jul 2025
The 3rd Meeting of the 1st Session of the 13th Parliament, which is also referred to as Winter Meeting, is scheduled to commence at the Parliament Buildings today.
A press release from the National Assembly says the meeting is estimated to last for about six weeks, ending on or around August 15. The release states that the meeting will primarily focus on the introduction and presentation of Bills (draft laws).
“In line with the Constitution of Botswana, Parliament’s primary responsibility is to enact legislation that promotes peace, order and good governance. This legislative mandate is fulfilled through the presentation of Private and Government Bills by Members of Parliament,” states the release.
In addition to law-making, the release says the session will also feature other key parliamentary business, including questions and motions. ENDS
