The annual event to celebrate Kgosi Malope II birthday will be highlighted by a 6.3km walk with the pupils from schools in Kanye  and villages  in the periphery such as Ranaka, Molapowabojang, Lotlhakane and Moshupa on July 4.

 The chief walker, Kgosi Malope II will be joined by other village and district leaders among them Members of Parliament for Kanye East and West, Prince Mosanana and Victor Phologolo, and The Voice Newspaper Managing Director Marc Kasale as well as members of the community.

According to Taolo Mogobe, Ga-Mmaleema Culture Committee Executive Member said the organisers of Kgosi’s birthday were mandated to promote cultural education and teachings to the young generation.

Mogobe said Kgosi Malope II Walk is expected to navigate through Kanye Heritage sites starting at Kgotlakgolo, passing at Kgosi Bathoen II statue, Difalana Heritage site, Mmalekwa Cemetery, ending at Kidz Academy International School.

During the walk, Mogobe said the pupils  will have an opportunity to learn the history of the historical sites along the walk route. He said the event to celebrate Kgosi Malope II birthday was hatched in 2018 and since then it was held annually. 

This, he said would give Kgosi Malope II an opportunity to reach out to the community. ENDS
