One small leap for man, one giant leap for Amantle Brown. The award-winning artiste has been making strides on all fronts this year, from gracing the stage at the London Billboard Awards, to launching her new music website, preparing for her upcoming cooking show, and proudly celebrating six months of sobriety.
Her journey dates back to 2011, when she first sang on the My Star Music Talent Show shortly after completing Form Five. Fast forward to today, and she counts her performance at the London Billboard Awards, held on June 4 to 5, as her biggest career milestone yet.
Sharing the stage with artistes such as Tems, and Brown represented Botswana as a creative sector ambassador, a role made possible through the support of the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre and Global Venture Partners.
“Such a big deal, right?” Brown said with a smile during an interview on her return from London affair.
“I was so shocked when I got picked as I was at a point in my life and career where I felt like we were facing so much unfairness, it seemed impossible to experience anything great. But this… this was God,” she reflected.
The London performance was not her only golden moment. Recently, Brown announced the launch of her official music website, where fans can access her latest album, Heart In A Note, produced by Simz Records. So far, the site has already recorded over 4 000 visitors.
“When we launched it, the reception was amazing. Now the work continues, we need to assure fans that this is a site they can trust because they truly can,” she affirmed.
The album features eight tracks, including a live band performance of Black Mampatile, and stripped-back acoustic versions of recent fan favorites like Busa.
Away from the studio, Brown is now preparing to debut her cooking show titled: Cooking with Amantle Brown.
Slated to air on her digital platforms, the show will combine cuisine with heartfelt storytelling.
Each episode will feature a guest with a story to share, from inspiring moments to navigating grief, all while cooking dishes of their choice.
“I just want stories to be told through this show. Whether it is motivating or emotional, one thing is certain: this is going to be a purpose-driven project.”
In addition to her musical and culinary ventures, Brown has been appointed brand ambassador for Etner Cosmetics, a beauty line with a presence in Canada, the United States, South Africa, and now Botswana.
But her most personal victory, was celebrating six months of sobriety and a renewed relationship with God.
Brown opened up about the period in her life when alcohol, smoking, and constant partying left her feeling lost and disconnected.
“You are just all over the place. But when you remove alcohol, which is a distraction, and replace it with God, prayer, and focus, the ball starts rolling,”she said with a sense of pride.
Looking ahead, Brown said she was putting her trust in her creative instincts and her faith.
“Whatever God places in my mind,” I’m going to do it,” she said with a smile. ENDS
