Non-compliance delays awarding of tender

11 Feb 2014

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development says the delay in completion of the Jamataka and Mphinyane primary schools classroom blocks was caused by non-compliance by tenderers to the specifications which required steel trusses.

Answering a question in Parliament, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the tender had now been awarded after being re-tendered with specifications for timber trusses.

“The expected dates of completion of such classroom blocks at Jamataka and Mphinyane primary schools are March 31  and April 30, 2014 respectively,” she said.

She further said maintenance works for the repair of roofs at Nyamambise Primary School commenced on January 27, 2014 and the expected completion date was March 3, 2014.

“The delay in starting the works was to allow for the insurance company to undertake the assessment of the damage and provide compensation money,” she said.

MP for Tonota South, Mr Fedilis Molao had asked the minister what had caused the delay in the completion of the Jamataka and Mphinyane primary school classroom blocks and when they will be completed.

He also asked the minster when the maintenance for the Nyamambise Primary School administration block would be done after it was blown away by the wind more than four months ago. ENDS
