Malak and Tinashe cruise to semi-finals

Botswana tennis players, Malak Macheng and Tinashe Phatshwane are through to the International Tennis Federation/Confederation of Africa Tennis (ITF/CAT 14) and Under Circuit leg two singles semi-finals.
Malak, who has set an appointment with Zimbabwe’s Rutendo Tom for a semi-final match today, had to work extra hard to outclass her opponent, Zimbabwean Mukunike Rivarashe 6-3,7-5 in a nail biting encounter, which kept the spectators on their toes.
She admitted in an interview that she played against a tough opponent, as she had to come from behind.
Even though she admitted that her opponent was a tough nut to crack and consistent, she said she was happy she gave her a good preparation for today semifinal match.
Tinashe, who beat Zimbabwean Ryan Mapepetla 6-0,6-3 said he was happy with his performance though the match was tough.
Tinashe, who faces South African Mpho Bowers in a semi-final encounter, promises to work hard so that he would make it to the final.
Tom, who plays Malak today, beat Camilla Seetso 6-3, 6-2, while local girl Angel Chakanyuka lost 6-1,6-0 to South African Molaoa Morakane.
Leg one bronze medallist, Lebone Tlape lost 6-4, 6-2 to South African Chamak Zhuwakini.
In the placement positions matches, Moshe Lekaukau won 3-4,4-1,10-5 against fellow countryman Reagile Pence,
Aone Mokhosana won 4-0,4-1 against Wang Jun Ya, while Rerotlhe Kgannyeng won 4-2,4-2 against Reene Sebego.
In the doubles, Lebone and Bowers beat Tanzanian Ethan Dzidzou and Zimbabwean Ushe Chigogwana 6-1, 6-2.
Tinashe and Johan Theron of Namibia won 6-1,6-1 against Zimbabweans Munashe Mhlanga and Simbarashe Danda.
Camilla and Rerotlhe lost to South Africans Keotshepile Moorosi and Wedy Modiba by 7-6 (5), 4-6 (10-5). ENDS
