The senior women’s national football team, The Mares, arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, on Wednesday ahead of the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF Women Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on July 5. 

Head coach, Alex Malete said in an interview that they arrived well although it was a long trip as they travelled for two days. 

Now, Malete said the focus was on recovery and already; they have had a short video analysis to prepare the players mentally that they had arrived in Morocco for the competition. 

He said they would now start planning their approach for the tournament and would focus on tactical work and raise the intensity of the training as time goes on.

He further said they had some friendlies lined up, even though they were yet to be confirmed.

He said he was happy that they had an injury-free players, who were also in good health. 

Meanwhile, The Mares are in Group B with Tunisia, Nigeria and Algeria. 

Their opening match will be held at the Père Jego Stadium in Casablanca against Algeria on July 6 and will face Nigeria on July 10, while their game against Tunisia will be on July 13.
