Some Botswana tennis players have advanced to the ITF/CAT 14 and Under Circuit quarterfinals following their victories in the first round of the tournament played at the National Tennis Centre in Gaborone today.

In the boys’ singles, Lebone Tlape beat his countryman, Motheo Kgosimore, 6-1-6-0, Thinashe Phatswane won 6-3, 6-1 against Francesco Brink, Reagile Pence lost 6-1, 6-0 to Theron Johan of Namibia.

Mhlanga Munenyesha of Zimbabwe beat Tuelo Merafhe 6-0,6-0, Duke Rantshabo lost 6-0,6-1 to Mapepeta Ryani of Zimbabwe and Tema Malumo lost to Danda Simbarashe 6-0,6-0, while Moshe Lekaukau also lost 6-1,6-1 to Munenyesha of Zimbabwe.

In the girls’ singles, Malak Macheng won 6-0,6-0 against Zimbabwe’s Mpofu Sheen, Camilla seetso beat Aone Mokgosana 6-3, 6-1, and Angel Chakanyuka beat Tverdon Una of Zimbabwe 6-1,6-0 while Rerotlhe Kgannyeng lost 6-1,6-0 to Wenzile Tshili of Zimbabwe, Mathiba Atlang lost 6-0,6-0 to Ashley Mandu of Zimbabwe while Reene Sebego lost 6-1,6-0 to Claire Majeye of Zimbabwe.

The quarterfinals will be played on Thursday. ENDS
