Bapegi Masters Social Club reaches out to Matsaakgang school

17 Jun 2025

Bapegi Masters Social Club has, through their social engagement and community involvement, donated uniform to Matsaakgang Primary School learners.

According to the club’s spokesperson, Tumelo Swasing, their motive was driven by the quest to redefine public opinion on social clubs through a deliberate transformation concept.

Swasing said this during the club’s biannual knock-out tournament, targeted at giving back to the school in Kanye recently.

He said the public believed that social ills took place at such engagements, saying this left the club with the assignment to set the record straight.

With accountability coupled with the right procedures and policies in place, he said social clubs could take the opportunity of mass gatherings to positively transform lives.

He said almost 90 per cent of social clubs were not yet registered with The Registrar of Societies, and on such a note, it meant there were no policies or regulations to operate such clubs, hence the public opinion.

However, he admitted that transformation was not easy, as it had required Bapegi Masters to have a strategy, carry out club diagnosis and draw some coherence frameworks and actions such as their donation to Matsaakgang school and, at times, community clean-up campaigns.

The Assistant District Commissioner for Kanye, Tuelo Gothaang, commended the club’s efforts, saying it was a good deed for them to come on board and assist government.

She said government alone could not manage and therefore encouraged the club and sports fanatics to be responsible and accountable in making a difference.

She further pleaded with the clubs to encourage young children to partake in football games to help curb the alarming social ills amongst youths, which mostly occured during idle times.

Receiving the gifts on behalf of Matsaakgang Primary School, Ms Naomi Sebitla expressed gratitude and acknowledged Bapegi Masters’ unwavering support from way back since the COVID-19 season when they had provided them with health necessities such as hand sanitisers.

She said the club had been buying school uniform to some pupils at Matsaakgang and further encouraged them on their continual support.

Meanwhile, the charity tournament was won by the host, Bapegi Masters while Mmatshitswane Football Club settled for second position. ENDS
