Ministry considers yards for impounded vehicles
10 Feb 2014
Most police stations countrywide are overcrowded with impounded vehicles and there is need to have dedicated yards for such vehicles.
Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Dikgakgamatso Seretse said in Parliament that his ministry intended to make provision for this in the next National Development Plan.
He was responding to a question asked by Member of Parliament for Palapye, Mr Moiseraele Goya who wanted the minister to state if he would consider acquiring a piece of land in Gaborone to use as a storage facility for vehicles awaiting court decisions given that some police compounds such as Criminal Investigation Department (CID) South in Gaborone were overcrowded with such vehicles.
He said this resulted in shortage of parking space for police officers and the general untidiness of the surroundings.Ends
