Francistown-based Calendar Stars FC’s hard fought victory over BR Highlanders has ensured that the team clinch a spot in the promotional playoffs.

Calandar Stars defeated BR Highlanders 1-0 during the last game of the First Division League- North played at the Francistown City Council Stadium on Saturday, to ensure that they finished second with 39 points, with Gomotsang Simon scoring a stunning goal in the 21^st minute for his team. 

Calendar Stars coach, Joseph Mokgacha, praised his team’s resilience, acknowledging challenges faced during the match, particularly in the first half. 

“I am happy we got three points and managed to qualify for the promotional playoffs. Our opponents were playing better in the middle, but we managed to contain them,” he said.

Looking ahead, he expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and determination to secure a favourable position by the end of the games,saying he led a dedicated and a team with fighting spirit. 

Reflecting on his team’s performance BR Highlanders coach, Kabo Koifho, said despite playing well, they were unable to convert opportunities into goals.  “Sometimes in football, you need good luck to win.

  If luck is not on your side, you do not win. If you don’t score your chances, you are bound to lose games,” he stated.

TIn the 21st minute, Gomotsang Simon scored a stunning goal, giving Calendar Stars a crucial 1-0 lead as first half ended. ENDS
