Southern region division one league champions, Kanye United are set to compete in the Southern Block Promotional Playoffs this weekend hoping to secure a spot in the Debswana First Division South League for next season.

Kanye United showcased an impressive performance throughout the season, finishing the division one league with a total of 43 points, edging out Jwaneng Fighters, who ended the season in second place with 40 points.

Kanye United chairperson, Sebonego Sebonego has expressed the team's readiness and eagerness to ascend to the Debswana First Division South League. He said the players understood the level of performance required to turn their aspirations into reality.

The playoffs kick off today with Kanye United going head to head with Gaborone Young Strikers at the GU Stadium in Gaborone at 6pm. Gaborone Young Strikers topped the season with an impressive 67 points in the Gaborone City region, closely followed by The Crowns with 63 points.

Following this, Kanye United will face Mokatse Mountain Birds from the Kgatleng region at Kanye Stadium on Saturday at 3pm. Mountain Birds finished their season as champions, also accumulating 57 points, but secured the top spot based on goal difference over Oodi Black Aces.

Kanye United will then meet Kweneng region champions Majweng Sporting Club at Majweng Grounds in Molepolole on June 7. Known affectionately as ‘The Yellow Machine’ by their supporters, Majweng made it to the playoffs last year but fell short of promotion.

Kanye United would then conclude their playoffs campaign against South East region champions Tourism FC at Kanye Stadium on June 8. A successful showing in these playoffs will grant Kanye United a coveted spot in the Debswana First Division South League next season. ENDS
