25 May 2025

Gaborone United has completed their league winning season in style and equally claiming bragging rights by defeating city arch-rivals, Township Rollers 2-0 on Saturday at the National Stadium.

The goals came in the first half from Thatayaone Kgamanyane.

Following the match that, among other league encounters, completed the league season, the inaugural FNBB Premier League Champions received a mouth-watering cheque of P1.4 million, a trophy and were draped with Gold medals.

In a post match interview, GU coach, Dimitar Pantev said the team was determined to succeed, no wonder they started the league on a high note.

Pantev said commitment, dedication and team spirit were behind their legaue success.

Besides chasing earlier contenders for the league title, Pantev said GU remained confident with executing what they knew and had learnt to execute some winning combinations from the technical team.

He said the determination saw GU either getting the vital three points or settling for a draw with those that were a threat to the league title.

Coach Pantev said there was nothing much to say about the coming season, even though he was of the view that the team would need to acquire about three or four experienced players to bolster the squad and guide the young players.

Sua Flamingos, TAFIC and Jwaneng Galaxy are equal on 59 points and have finished second, third and fourth respectively as they were separated by the number of goals scored.

Mochudi Centre Chiefs finished fifth with 56 points while Rollers are sixth with 54 points.

Morupule Wanderers (42 points), Orapa United (40) and VTM FC (35) finished in the top eight. The trio of Security Systems, Chadibe FC and Uniao Flamingo Santos have been relegated and will play in the first division league in the coming season. ENDS
