GU and Galaxy set for showdown

A thrilling encounter is anticipated today as Gaborone United and Jwaneng Galaxy, two of the country’s top  women’s football clubs face off in the DTC Botswana southern block playoffs at GU stadium in Gaborone.

Both teams share dynamic, high-pressing style of play, characterised by rapid transitions and relentless attacking. They possess exceptional speed and are quick to capitalise on scoring opportunities, making them formidable opponents. 

GU, also known as the Red Roses, were crowned the Gaborone Region champions, after playing 14 games, won all of them, netted 61 goals, while only three goals went pass their goal keeper, and won the league with 42 points.

On the other hand, Jwaneng Galaxy representing the Southern Region, made it to the play off after winning 16 of the 18 games they played, drew one, lost one and they scored 135 goals against their opponents. They conceived  four goals and finished the league having accumulated 49 points.

Both GU and Galaxy boast  of players with proven track record of success. 

Galaxy’s forward, Patricia Motingwa is renowned for her clinical finishing and relentless attacking prowess, making her a formidable threat to any defence.

 On the other hand, Red Roses will depend on high riding players such as Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse and Golebaone Selebatso to finish with Galaxy. ENDS
