 It was only day one, but Miss Botswana, Anicia Gaothusi’s arrival in India at the 72^nd Miss World pageant competition turned heads and left a lasting impression.

Draped in a vibrant green African print jumpsuit designed by self-taught designer Christina Karin Lokie Vanstaden of Lokieden Creations, Gaothusi stood out as a style icon from the very start of the competition.

“If this is her outfit on day one, what can we expect for the rest of the days?” exclaimed I Am Ndeshi, an international content creator with a massive following in the digital fashion and pop culture space.

Her evening look, a dinner dress by Nitar Brandz, along with her overall styling, also captivated fashion critics, including Alvin Sebetero, a renowned pageant analyst and content creator known for his extensive coverage of global beauty pageants like Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Supranational.

“Her hair looks refreshing. I love her overall aura. Her makeup enhances her beauty and gives her a youthful glow. Her smile is radiant. The dress is simple, yet its joyful and festive colour makes her aura shine even more,” Sebetero observed.

Gaothusi continued her fashion streak into days two, three, and four, donning pieces from Angels Closet BW. Day two featured a dress adorned with vivid floral motifs, followed by a chic two-piece ensemble and, lastly, a floral top that continued her elegant yet expressive style narrative.

For the opening ceremony of the 72nd Miss World Festival on Saturday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, Gaothusi paid tribute to Botswana with a traditional dress designed by Funky Resy. The outfit showcased Botswana’s Big Five, the lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo, symbolising the strength and pride of Africa. Each animal was framed by a traditional ‘tlatlana’ or Botswana handmade basket, celebrating the artistry of local female reed weavers.

Recently, Gaothusi, took to social media to share her joy and update Batswana on her journey. 

“Woke up feeling grateful and focused. It’s another day filled with possibilities and purpose,” she wrote, reassuring Batswana that she is giving her all in every activity. ENDS
