KX Legit drops hit anthem

Rising from humble beginnings, award-winning artist and current Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAS) nominee KX Legit’s latest motivational anthem, No Ceilings is nothing short amazing.
Born Katlego Mogotsi in Shoshong, the Afro-rap lyricist is not chasing dreams, but claiming destiny through authentic music that reflects the meaning behind his stage name.
“My initial stage name was Sliq Rythmz. I eventually landed on Katlego X Legit, shortened to KX Legit, because authenticity is what I strive for in my writing, my interactions with people and my opinions,” he said.
His new single, No Ceilings, a fusion of Afro-pop and Hip Hop, is a bold declaration of that authenticity he holds dear.
Written during a period of struggling with imposter syndrome, No Ceilings became his way of confronting self-doubt and rejecting the limitations others tried to impose on him.
“It’s about breaking barriers and pushing past limits, especially the ones people set for you,” he explained and noted that his sound was a unique blend of Afro beats and hip hop flows, with language and vibe switches that told his story in a way that hit hard yet still resonated deeply. Reflecting on his journey, KX credits childhood friendships and his early days with a local rap group called Cabin Feeva for sparking his musical passion. “We generated a small local buzz in Palapye,” he recalled.
However, it was during his second year at university in the UK that his track Detox Monateng got the attention of BBC Radio, a move that snowballed into major opportunities.
Around the same time, his song Back to Moshate was nominated for the YAMAS, ultimately winning both Best Newcomer and Best Hip Hop.
And the accolades have not stopped. KX is currently nominated for Best Hip Hop at the 2025 YAMAS for his collaboration with Thuli on Can’t Pass the Torch.
About his upcoming debut album, KX shared that it was a deeply personal project focused on passion and pain. ENDS
