Spirit of Praise All Stars is set to grace Botswana with a performance to celebrate the life and music of the late Mmereki Marakakgoro, a legendary figure in Botswana’s gospel music scene, who passed on April 2023.

The much-anticipated event is scheduled for May 10, 2025, at the University of Botswana Indoor Sports Arena in Gaborone.

The event will spotlight Botswana’s own gospel talents, with performances from Noah, Tlo-tlo, Calvary Apostolic Church Brass Band, and Makayla Gospel Choir Clap and Tap. 

They will proudly share the stage, showcasing Botswana’s rich gospel heritage alongside their South African counterparts.

Internationally acclaimed South African gospel stars including Mmatema, Winnie Mashaba, Zaza, Nothando, Rofhiwa, Ayanda, Dumi, Omega, and Keke are expected to perform at the event. Notably, Benjamin Dube, despite no longer being part of Spirit of Praise, will also perform, much to the excitement of his local fans.

Speaking to Daily News Online event organiser Letsogile Setlhong emphasized that the concert not only serves as a platform for spiritual revival but also offers invaluable exposure and experience for more than six local artists who will be performing.

“It’s a rare chance for our local talent to share the stage with such iconic figures, which is invaluable for their musical journeys,” Setlhong stated.

As part of the activation efforts, South African gospel artist Omega Khunou visited six churches around Gaborone to personally invite the public and spread the word about the concert

Additionally, a successful activation event took place at Fields Mall, drawing community engagement and excitement.

The event promises to be an unforgettable spiritual encounter for those looking to experience a night of praise, worship, and reflection while celebrating the legacy of Marakakgoro. ENDS
