After undergoing an intensive training programme focusing on mental sharpness, physical fitness, and pageantry skills, Miss World Botswana, Anicia Gaothusi, is now ready to participate in the highly anticipated 72nd Miss World Festival in Telangana, India.
The reigning queen is scheduled to depart today at 12pm. Since being crowned Miss Botswana, Gaothusi has remained in the spotlight, sometimes for the good, other times for the bad, but through it all, she has proven herself to be a resilient and determined individual.
Speaking to BOPA, Gaothusi expressed excitement about representing Botswana on the global stage.
“I feel incredibly honoured and excited to represent Botswana. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a dream come true,” she said. While acknowledging the pressures of the competition, she emphasised her focus on the bigger picture. “There are moments of pressure, especially under public scrutiny, but I remind myself daily of my purpose, to showcase the beauty, strength, and resilience of my country,” she noted. She also extended heartfelt gratitude to Batswana for their unwavering love and support throughout her journey.
The Miss Botswana team shared their satisfaction with the progress of her preparations, noting that everything went smoothly despite the intense effort involved.
“With a supportive team, well-planned schedules, and dedicated partners, everything progressed according to plan,” said Miss Botswana’s Public Relations and Administration Assistant, Unaswi Moalusi.
The team also highlighted that Gaothusi’s wardrobe has been carefully curated to reflect her elegance while embracing the rich cultural heritage of India, especially that of Telangana.
They encouraged Batswana to show their support by wearing national colours at her departure and to continue following her journey online, liking, sharing, and posting messages of encouragement.
“She has become more articulate, assertive, and relatable,” Moalusi said, expressing confidence in Gaothusi’s success in India. ENDS
